The AVANCA | CINEMA will hold its 5th edition in July of 2014, bringing together researchers, academics, students, directors and cinema enthusiasts in Avanca during five days of sharing, having cinema as the central theme. In the last edition we had 140 presentations from 178 participants which result in a publication with 1288 pages. This is the result of a scientific review of 31 academics from 13 countries, under the rules of double-blind review.
The four thematic groups seem to continue to be the base of permanently in development and the questioning that leads us to news ways of research, the themes presented reflect the innovation and show support for key research areas for reflection that we seek to promote and create around the cinema. Knocking geographical or ideological barriers in seeking to provide open meetings that allow prospects to new knowledge in an informal space but of great scientific rigor that enables enrichment at various levels to all who participate.
However, AVANCA 2014 (the film festival where the conference takes place), hosts workshops, screenings, book releases, roundtables, plenary and parallel sessions, in addition to being a factory of films where academics become actors , filmmakers become researchers and where everyone can fiction, investigate, document or just experiment. Between cornfields, cameras, projectors and screens, scientific knowledge about the film is reported among near 400 participants in the festival and conference and approximately 18000 spectators, who come from the four corners of the world.

The conference has four official languages: Portuguese, English, Spanish and French.
