On behalf of the organising committee it is a pleasure to invite you to the upcoming New Directions in Media Research Conference, which will take place at the Media and Communication Department, University of Leicester, Friday 12 June 2015.

This one-day academic conference is organised by PhD students from the Department of Media and Communication and provides postgraduate students, PhD students and early career researchers with a platform and opportunity to develop and share their research and critically
contribute to discussions of theory and methodology on a variety of Media and Communication issues. The NDiMR conference has been held annually since 2012, each year growing in size and attracting more delegates from across the UK, Europe and Asia.

Presentations and papers related to proposed sub-themes are welcomed,
but do not limit to:

  • Media and politics
  • Research methods in media studies
  •  Media and Journalism
  • •Media audiences
  • Media and culture
  • New media and society
  • Advertising and public relations
  • Media production, consumption and representation

Guidelines for Abstracts:

•Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words in length and in English.
•One author should not submit more than one abstract for the evaluation unless the second paper is co-authored one.
•Same abstract or another version with minor variations in title or content must not be submitted to other Sections for consideration.
•As all the abstracts will be printed in the conference program, we would suggest author to evaluate their own abstracts before submission.

Guideline for Papers:
Accompanied with your abstract, students or researchers who would like to publish their paper in NDiMR PGR journal can submit a paper alongside their abstract.

Papers should be between 3000 to 4000 words in length in English (references excluded).

The paper will be sent in electronic format taking into consideration the deadlines.
Any paper received after the deadline will not get in the paper review process.
he paper must arrive in only Microsoft WORD file (.doc or.docx) format.
The first page of the paper should have:

1. Full name of the author/s, the title of the author/s. the University of the author/s.
2. The email addresses of the author/s.
3. A short biography of author/s that are no more than 100 words per each author.

• Final paper content should conform to the APA referencing style.
•  We will be publishing accepted papers in the NDiMR PGR Journal in September 2015.

Important Date:
Submission for both abstracts and papers closes on 24 April 2015.

All abstracts will be reviewed by a committee of students and faculty from the department of Media and Communication. Notification of both abstract and paper acceptances will be communicated by 8 May 2015.
