Allow us to invite you to the second edition of the Prague Media Point conference series called Populism, authoritarianism, and the media: The age of mediocracy and mediacracy, which will take place on November 12-14, 2015. It will feature panel and poster presentations focused on examining the transformation of media in an age of information being used and abused by authoritarian rulers. The Prague Media Point project evolved from the 25 Years After Conference, which took place in 2014 and focused on the transformation of the media industries in Central and Eastern Europe since the fall of the Berlin Wall. It will offer a series of annual academic conferences in Prague, which will bring together the relevant actors involved in the process, including academics, media practitioners, political analysts, and representatives of NGOs.

The call for papers is now open (see the attachment for more information); please send all submissions by June 29, 2015. You can submit your paper and/or poster proposals through our online submission form.

· Jiří Pehe, Director of New York University Prague, Writer, Political Commentator

· Peter Pomerantsev, TV Producer, Writer, and Senior Fellow at the Legatum Institute

· Christopher Walker, Executive Director of the National Endowment for Democracy’s International Forum for Democratic Studies

The conference is supported by the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA)the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism at Charles University, and the Comparative Interdisciplinary Studies Section (CISS) of International Studies Association (ISA). It is organized in partnership with Visegrad InsightRadio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, and New York University in Prague (Male namesti 11, Prague 1), which will serve as a host for the conference.
