SMS-S offers a forum for presentation and discussion of current research on social media. The theme for this year’s symposium is “Critical perspectives in social media research”. The call for extended abstracts is open and the deadline for submission is 15 June, 2015. Submitted contributions will go through a peer review process and there will be an opportunity for publication of subsequent full papers in a special collection supplemented to the /Information Research /journal, Volume 21, Number 2, June 2016. This symposium will be held in English.

Mötesplats Sociala Medier (MSM)* conference will take place on the same day at 13:00-17:00. MSM provides a space for dialogue between researchers, politicians, policy makers, and city administrators around issues related to social media. The theme for this year’s conference is related to how we receive news and form a perception of the world and political issues through social media (Världsbild och politik genom sociala medier). The conference is held in Swedish.The conference programme is already in place, as part of which and as usual, the prestigious Social Media Award will be presented to this year’s winner at the conference.
