This Project is developed by the Institute for Medieval Studies (Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities – Nova University of Lisbon) in partnership with the Portuguese National Library, the Library of Ajuda and the Department of Conservation and Restoration (Faculty of Sciences and Technology – Nova University of Lisbon). It presents data on the Illuminated codices extant in the above-mentioned archives with detailed records of their content and decoration.
The first stage of the project, offers the manuscript records of the codices addressed in the conference cycle “A month, an illuminated codex” that took place between March 2013 and October 2014 as was published in the e-book “Luz, Cor e Ouro”.
The team will continue to expand the collection of manuscript records following two main guidelines:
- Expand the available information on the illuminated manuscripts in Portuguese collections of the Portuguese National Library and the Library of Ajuda, as well as other institutions that in the future may join the project.
- Update through scientific research the available data on the manuscritos and their decoration and bindings.
All records here available will present (whenever possible) a link to the digital copy of the manuscript.
