19 October, 2016 - 22 October, 2016
| Free900 years ago, in 1116, the Almoravids conquered the Balearic Islands. After this victory, this Amazigh dynasty reached its wider territorial expansion, thanks to the control of a great land extension which spread from Mauritania to Zaragoza. In this moment, the greatest period of splendor for the Almoravids began, and the most important Western Islamic Empire of the first half of the 12th century was configured.
Within this framework, this International Seminar aims to commemorate the ninth centenary of the maximal Almoravid territorial expansion. To achieve this aim, along with the thematic axis of the Seminar, the important role of this centenary dynasty in North Africa and Al-Andalus will be discussed, and its cultural inheritance in the Mediterranean World will be analyzed from multidisciplinary perspectives.
