Catarina Fernandes Barreira

Catarina Fernandes Barreira has a PhD in Art Sciences (University of Lisbon, 2011). She is currently a post-doctorate fellow developing a research project on the Illuminated Manuscripts of the Monastery of Alcobaça between the fourteenth and the fifteenth centuries, funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (SFRH/BPD/70067/2010) and hosted at the Institute for Medieval Studies of the Nova University in Lisbon. She has participated as a researcher in two funded research projects, one on Hebrew illumination in Portugal (2012–15) funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology,  and another on Arts literacy (2012–13), funded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Between 2000 and 2005 she was an Assistant Professor at the Escola Superior de Educação e Ciências Sociais (Leiria), where she became a Visiting Auxiliary Professor in 2009. Until 2017, she taught undergraduate courses and was a tutor of the MA in Art History. She is currently supervising two PhD students in the Faculty for Social Sciences and Humanities of the Nova University in Lisbon.  From January 2015, she coordinates the research group “Images, Texts and Representations”, with a body of 65 researchers, at the Institute for Medieval Studies of the above mentioned Faculty.

Maria Conceição Casanova

Maria Casanova holds a PhD in Conservation and Restoration – Theory, History and Praxis from the New University of Lisbon. She graduated as a paper conservator at the Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts / University of London and holds a degree in Art History from the University of Porto. He coordinated conservation departments at various institutions such as the National Library of Portugal, the National Archives of Portugal and the Tropical Research Institute. She is currently a researcher at the Museums of the University of Lisbon, professor at the Conservation and Restoration Course and vice-president at the PhD in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

Ana Lemos

Ana Lemos has a degree in Art History by the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon and was enrolled in the MA of Medieval Art History, Medieval Painting and Iconography in the University Paris IV/Sorbonne. She was also a researcher on the project “The colour in Portuguese medieval illumination”. As an expert on illuminated manuscripts and medieval iconography she is engaged in PhD project on books of hours with the department of Conservation and Restoration of the FCT-UNL. She lectures regularly in BA, MA and PhD seminars and has published several articles. Currently she is a researcher at IEM, FCSH-UNL and teacher of History at the Lycée Français Charles Lepierre, in Lisbon.

Luís Campos Ribeiro

Luís Campos Ribeiro has a Master in Art History by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities – Nova University of Lisbon and is currently working on his PhD in History and Philosophy of Sciences in the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. He is a member of the Centro Interuniversitário de História da Ciência e Tecnologia, FCUL-UL, and of the Instituto de Estudos Medievais, FCSH-UNL.  His research includes medieval illuminated manuscripts, in particular scientific manuscripts, as well as medieval and early modern history of science in the fields of astrology, astronomy and medicine.
