PhD in Classical Archaeology (2010) from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). Pau de Soto has specialised in the use of GIS and Network Analysis to analyse the Roman transportation and communication routes, mainly in the NE of the Iberian Peninsula, which was the focus of his PhD Thesis: ”Anàlisi de la xarxa de comunicacions i de transport a la Catalunya romana. Estudis de distribució i mobilitat” (Cum Laude. European Mention). He also obtained a MSc. in Geographical Information Technologies (2012) from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
After his PhD, he has been involved in several historical and archaeological projects at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology (ICAC), the Archeological Institute at Mérida (IAM-CSIC). Between 2013 and 2016 Pau de Soto has been part of the core team of the Pelagios Project (http://commons.pelagios.org/) based in the University of Southampton and the Institute for Catalan Studies (IEC). He’s also specialised in the development of non-intrusive techniques, especially Geophysical Prospection and the use of Geographical Information Systems applied to Archaeology. Since October 2016, he’s working as a Marie Curie Fellow at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa developing a project about the evolution of the transportation networks in the Iberian peninsula from Roman times to the XIXth Century. |
